Our Mission
We exist to help more people find and follow Jesus.
At Riverstone, our mission is simple: helping more people find and follow Jesus. That means introducing people to His love, walking with them in faith, and growing together in a life centered on Him. We believe the Bible is God’s Word and the foundation for everything we do. And we’re learning to live the way Jesus taught us — growing in love for God and love for our neighbors (Matthew 22:37–39).

Our Vision
To Be Known By Our Love.
By 2030, Riverstone will be a leading and leaving gospel presence in our region through maximizing our resources for kingdom impact, strengthening connections with all people, serving our local, regional, and global communities, and developing ambassadors of Jesus Christ.

Our Beliefs
We are a Wesleyan
church.
Riverstone is a part of The Wesleyan Church, A group whose mission is transforming lives, churches and communities through the hope and holiness of Jesus Christ. You can read more about the beliefs of The Wesleyan Church here.

Our Story
In 1927, in the home of Mrs. Mary Magee, a women’s prayer group began meeting. Over time, their families joined in, and they rented space on Genesee Street in Avon, as well as the Livingston Hotel. In 1938, they purchased their first building and joined the Wesleyan Methodist Connection (now The Wesleyan Church) in 1944. By this time, the church was known as The People’s Tabernacle.
Soon after, the church began significantly supporting missions work and engaging with their communities. The church became known as Avon Wesleyan Church in 1970 and has been making an impact on the communities of north Livingston County ever since.
In 2006, AWC purchased a 30-acre property in the town of Caledonia, which has served as the site for many ministry events and activities, including Summer worship services and the Live Nativity Hayride. In 2023, the Hayride welcomed 1,700 people from across the state and surrounding areas.
In 2024, Avon Wesleyan Church became Riverstone.
Riverstone has always supported local, regional, and global missions, contributing a large portion of our budget to missions work and donating our Easter and Christmas offerings to Christ-centered organizations.
